Saw this and did not realize they Soviets where planning on having the second flight of Buran to have the crew board AFTER it had safely reached orbit. They could then decide if it was good for a crewed landing.

This shows how little i know of the Buran program and what if it kept going, either in Soviet ore Russian service.
