France already has the Chassepot rifle Obviously it whips the asses of everyone and Napoleon III is overjoyed. What exactly does he do? Whom does he wage war with? How much territory does he actually annex?

Very good point. That could be interesting. Whether Britain could keep him on the move so that the French couldn't rescue him. Assuming of course that Napoleon III would want to as that would mean giving way to his predecessor.
Plus since this would be the France with 1868 version borders there would be a hell of a lot of areas that were parts of Napoleon I's empire only a few years before. You could see some support for him in parts of Italy and also the Poles would probably welcome him with open arms.
If either Napoleon III goes on a conquest spree or Napoleon I returns then there's virtually nowhere safe from the French armies, at least unless and until people start to catch up.
