Isn't that what some of the more fundamentalist elements basically try and do since they use it as a font of all knowledge.
You would be coming up with ideas such as the sun orbiting the Earth, slavery, mass murder, rape etc being acceptable, at least if your one of the chosen people. Also that the Earth is a few days older than the sun. Probably a number of other issues but the 1st ones that come to mind. More importantly probably would be the negatives in that you would have to reject so much of current science, such as astronomy, evolution, paleontology, geology etc.

Sadly, yes. Granted, they seem to command less influence than during the days of Billy Sunday, and I’m hoping that the fundamentalist crowd would backtrack once they realize a) the far-reaching and destructive effects this will have on scientific progress and b) what other nasty ideas they’re also sanctioning, namely those that you’ve already mentioned. But yes, this would certainly discredit them in the eyes of the general public (which I’d argue is a good thing). Moreover, how would pro-fundamentalist science teachers respond to anti-Creationist refutations that brave and critical students might send them? Debunking that stupid Creationist Classroom video |
