Question: is this an actual magazine cover, or something photo-edited for the purposes of this scenario? I suspect its an actual magazine cover, photo-edited to demonstrate how technological capacities for such falsifications to occur. Recall in the early 80's that Scientific American had a similar one with Monroe and Abe Lincoln arm in arm for a similar purpose.

Eh, in early 2019, maybe? That way they both have some time to adjust to their respective roles before the 2020 election cycle rolls around. Do not know much about his father to say what he would do instead of his son. Yeah, I'm not sure either. Considering how secretive the duties of the POTUS must be in practice, maybe we'll never know for sure.
That said, I do predict that we'd see lots and lots of conversation between the two on a routine basis, whether via calls or closed-doors, in-person meetings. In fact, maybe they'd opt for the latter to reduce risk of leaks and whatnot.

Though further discussion of this likely belongs in another thread, people from even five or ten years ago would be weirded out at the current paradigm of things. Speaking as an agnostic myself, maybe all the craziness implies that a higher power actually does exist and is pulling the strings behind the scenes, as you seem to say.
