Ok so I have just got done watching the movie Don't Look Up and one of the things I found most upsetting is how close it is to how we as a nation (US) act like today. We as a society care far more about our identity politics than finding actual solutions to actual problems so much so that when a planet killer is found more than half a year away most of the time is on trying to act like everything is good and normal. By the end of the movie, The Earth is hit, and we are implied to be killed off by aliens some 20,000+ years later.
I enjoyed the main cast who I feel did a great job with their roles. The president and her son are great representatives of Donald Trump's administration which I think is a great choice because that's more or less how I would view them in this setting. Trying to anything but their jobs. I didn't much care for the news people and that whole thing. I felt it could've been cut and the movie would have lost very little of worth. The whole thing with the cheating husband really lowered my overall enjoyment by a fair bit. However, the end with the family and friends all together eating a final meal was a nice way to send them off. I would have liked to see much more of the wider world and the fallout of this news, but we saw very little in the way of that here which is a bit of a downer. Most of that was mostly covered with people in the streets and very little in the way of a sense of an ever-growing fear.
Overall I think it was an enjoyable if somewhat disappointing narrative. A solid 6 or 7 out of 10. Worth a watch but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.
- What about you? Have you watched it and if so what did you think about it?

Must admit I hadn't heard of it but quickly skimmed through the wiki entry. Might take a look at it when it appears on TV but that could be some time.

I watched it on Netflix so there is that. It wasn't a bad watch. I'm a bit unsure how to sum it up. It seems to be trying to be funny with how everybody is passing this all off as just some nutters trying to get clicks. But when Earth gets hit it is one of the better parts of the movie.
