The term Tagala had two meanings in Spanish it meant the Tribe Tagalog which was concluded by a historian I know that it came from Fray Albuquerque and the other pertains to Luzon in general, I learned this because based on my research the Moros also called the people of Luzon as Tagalogs, an example of that Pedro Ladia and Mohammed Kudarat who call the people of Luzon as Tagalogs/Tagala since Pedro Ladia used the term Lord of Tagalogs in a non-Tagalog speaking area, even Le Couperie mentions that, that is basically the same context where the Malays use the term Selurong. www.batangashistory.date/2018/03/tagalog.htmlThis means If Bonifacio won out, he would have used the term Tagalog/Katagalugan which refers to Luzon in general not tribe as the name of the Philippines which means that the neighboring countries at least Indonesia and Malaysia would have called the Philippines as Selurong which is the exonym/translation of that meaning of that term Tagalog in Malay which I think would basically completely alienate and erase the Non-Luzonian ethnic groups at least in the neighboring countries.
