Plus of course if I do try and make major changes and inadvertently trigger a nuclear exchange or some Spanish flu level pandemic say! You mean you somebody of us might carry Covid without having symptoms, that is scary.

It would be like Coca Cola (Ah.com) Vs Pepsi (AT.com) war. Assuming Alternate Timelines becomes a big enough competitor, I wonder if you'd siphon off members who'd have otherwise made AH.com their home base? It may seem minor, but one potential problem I see with trying to overtake AH.com is that it literally has "alternate history" in the name, even if "alternate timelines" still gets the idea across just fine.
There's also the question of whether Alternate Timelines remains a more interpersonal forum like we're used to, which is suspect, if your goal is to compete with AH.com on comparable terms. Which I understand and respect, though there are still trade-offs to be mindful of, if that's the path you take.
I have the feeling that would be an unavoidable problem if you start at about the same time as Ian and get a site of a similar order of magnitude. It would simply be too large for the personal touch we have here.

But unlike Ian i know things he does not know, also if i get my US stick where i always download stuff on its with me, then i have a major advantage over a lot of forums.

Well I was thinking of something nastier accidentally being generated as due to some butterfly. For instance I remember in a Ebola outbreak in W Africa a year or two back. There was this businessman who sworn blind he wasn't infected but the doctor treating him was doubtful and insisted on isolating him before he could travel on to Lagos IIRC, despite various threats from him of problems he would generate for her. It cost her, her life as he was infected but if he had carried it into a major urban centre such as Lagos with its international transport links as well that could have been far, far worse than Covid. Or some other butterfly means someone looking for jungle meat or burning down some forest for a quick return driving something into contact with humans causing something nasty. I would expect that its only our minds sent back rather than our bodies so I wouldn't think carrying an infection back with us would be possible.

Got any plans for your Malta-sized island? Or where you'd want it to be located? Somewhere in the Pacific would be nice. No it is not going to be my evil lair.
Of course not dark lord. None of your loyal servants would ever suggest such a thing.

I just want to see how it would look like if I met her earlier. Perhaps it would butterfly her having to deal with her first douchebag ex.

I think probably the only way would be with an extensive butterfly net so that no matter what changes all of us get born and brought up basically ideally to OTL.
Know what you mean about college crushes. There was a girl I really liked at college but was too shy and introvert to really speak to her about it. Probably would have failed miserably if I had tried but something you always regret.

Being 30 in late May 1991 I'll be betting on Denmark as European Football champion next year (odds 20:1) won't make me a millionaire but even so it will help. But I'll remember the August Coup in Russia - somebody through work might like to know such. At least quite a number of colleagues will like to know about events two years hence (1993) in Copenhagen riots and the WTC bombing that year too. Hmm, just a few different private life decisions will change my life quite a lot - won't quite know where that'll end. Might not get into AH at all for one. Might have one or more kids - its all up in the air.
Sorry missed this earlier. So if all goes well I can expect a contact from Denmark sometime in the early 90's to link up and see what our combined memories can do to help make things better. [Assuming of course we can agree on what better is. ]

I believe meeting her earlier in OTL would not change much considering the circumstances (i.e. a crowded freshmen welcome party or a huge Sinulog festival) because those aren't the right environment to know someone. You've read my story All For One Woman. The event I portrayed there did happen but in OTL we were unknowingly in the same area but unaware of each other's existence. Now I am armed with the knowledge of eight years, things may be different. I believe that in the alterante timeline, I did know her earlier and we are happy together.

Like if the Danish Security Service get wind of the preparations for WTC bombing in the long run something we never dreamt of may happen. Copenhagen Riots 13. May 1993 we would sure like to have been tackled otherwise; just a few modifications would do a lot of positive change. Not really afraid of the fallout of that.
Of course the August Coup in Russia may not be the real issue getting some Soviet/Russian Intelligence officer out of the way would change a lot but then perhaps even He may be preferable to the alternative.. who knows?

Also from 1991 some deaths can be avoided, one in question would by in 1997 in Paris.

I know this isn't what the OP proposed, but it'd be interesting if we were all ISOT'd to our younger selves and were operating in the same timeline together. Meaning that those who arrive earlier would let butterflies loose ahead of time, which those who arrive thereafter would have to live with, if it effects them in a significant way. By the looks of it, stevep would be the first to arrive in such a scenario, with the rest of us following as the years go by. Who knows, maybe we'd notice something fishy about the chain of events preceding whatever date we were sent back to and gradually connect the dots from there, perhaps to the point of trying to contact one another and discuss our current predicament as a group. Of course, this is certainly a digression from the initial scenario, but it'd make a very interesting TL, should someone start it up. Well, someone other than me, since I'm one of the younger members of Alternative Timelines, and thus won't be born until long after stevep and @lordroel have made changes with significant run-off affects down the line. In which case, I'll probably head into this experiencing a rather different early 2010s, compared to if I were the first (or only) person to arrive.
Interesting idea but how many of the people born after I - or anyone older than me arrive back in time - are likely to be born? ~31 years ago as I will be 62 in a few months would be 1990 so anyone younger members could be wiped from history. It only needs a small chance to possibly prevent your parents meeting up or a very tiny one to change when they have children and what their genetic make up is. As such many of you could end up isolated from anyone you know and/or somewhat different. For instance if the nearest child your parents have in the modified TL is a year or two older/younger and a different sex say and suddenly has you personality and memories implanted on them? Plus of course if I do try and make major changes and inadvertently trigger a nuclear exchange or some Spanish flu level pandemic say! Well, I’d probably still exist, unless your butterflies would affect major drug company relocations, LDS Missionary assignments, and the Southern California Housing Market. Now I may end up older or with a different set of genes as I was a relatively late child for a firstborn (especially in the Mormon faith), as well as might be living in California as opposed to the lone star state.
