Looking at Electoral College totals, there is all sorts of craziness. Those low-population states are required by law to have three votes each from the 538 total. Okay, so that is a bit reasonable, maybe, because they have two senators and one congressman/woman. However, Washington DC gets three too. It is treated as a state despite being not. Why doesn't DC just have one? In the future, should DC become a state, it would get three like the smallest states. How many Electoral College votes would Puerto Rico get if that island was made a state?

With the census however it would likely go down to 5 Electors. With Washington DC it has to do with a deal made in the 70s, to give them a voice at all.
