This is basically the Fall of Rome all over again but on much devastating scale. Yes very much so. Since I live in what would be Rio Grande territory I'm gonna cover that especially but the rest of the US will be touched on. And yes, we are even gonna see new languages form (think Californian, Hawaiian Revival, Aleutian, and Appalachian as well as English primarily in Rio Grande) and it's gonna go on all on its own because Brazil (which is now a superpower) isn't gonna let China touch the Americas. What about the EU and the Commonwealth led by Britain? I'm sure we'd see something similar to Shattered Union where the EU occupies the East Coast for a peacekeeping campaign.

They mostly follow Brazil's lead. Regardless, they will protect the American states but not intervene.

I'm going to do this justice better. The EU and Commonwealth are going to have other problems which I'll detail soon, namely in Eastern Europe.

I could see Britain at least have a foothold in the East Coast since it has historical ties in that region.

Well yes, they’ll be trade allies and that, but they are more worried about threatening nations, my update today will show that.

The global geopolitical situation:
Americas: The rise of Brazil, chiefly with it being the First Nation to develop in that region, lead to increased strength in Latin America. Southern Latin America and Mexico had joined the revised NATO, now just the ATO (dropping North to instead just become Atlantic). Venezuela had been split, with the South being a Republic and the north being occupied by Columbia. Cuba was also split, between the Democratic eastern half and Castro West. Puerto Rico had continued to survive after the fall of the US, running smoothly as isolation seemed to train it for. Canada had begun to arm there borders, and had entered into an alliance with the Republic of Alaska to defend the Aleutian state. Canada soon had also gotten a deal with the Great Plains and Rio Grande, who signed a mutual alliance. California was split between the Sun Belt Confederacy, the Bear Flag Republic, and Cascadia. The East had mostly settled out into Dixie, Appalachia, the Republic of the Atlantic, Delmarva, the PRoNE, New England, and the Great Lakes State.
Asia After the fall of the United States North Korea invaded its southern neighbor, forcing them to Pusan. The Second Armistice was signed, creating the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea and the Free City of Pusan. China had consolidated a global alliance, with most of Asia being members. However, they did have opposition in India, who mustered up her own allies as well.
Middle East For once, the MidEast was peaceful. Israel and Saudi Arabia had control of much of the region via coalitions and it worked to everyone’s benefit.
Europe The small, half century of freedom was ending in the East. First Ukraine fell after being destabilized by Russia in 2023. Then, Serbia had found an imperial instinct in 2029 and conquered many of its neighbors. Greece, who’d left NATO after the US left, was invaded by Serbia and Turkey, who’d also left NATO. In 2032, Poland fell when an authoritarian party came to power. Western Europe looked to Brazil for help. Scandinavia had gone full authoritarian when the US collapsed and with it the world economy. Ireland barely put down a communist revolt in Dublin and Cork.
Africa At this point, west Africa was in the sphere of Brazil while the East in the Chinese sphere. Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi had unified into East Africa. South Africa, allied with Brazil, had begun to conquest and unification of lands south of the DR Congo.
Oceania When the US fell, Australia and New Zealand went into action. The Christchurch Conference saw many of the islands of Oceania unite with Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Japan into the Pacific Union, which gained the support of Brazil.

The East
Ana Lisa-Collins stood in the Statue of Liberty Building on Ellis Island, the Capitol of the People’s Republic of New England. She was the leader of the nation who was barely organized. The PRoNE had adopted a Constitution which created the Council of Governance, who had complete government control. The nations military was currently fighting against a small state in former Delaware called Delmarva. The state had tried to control Philadelphia and was doing so.
Lisa-Collins, the Director of the Council of Governance, lead the government and was preparing to speak.
“I have been asked several questions on how I will govern. I’m gonna be blunt. Capitalism failed us. AOC butchered Socialism. The state will control the economy and everyone will be provided for. Each will work the same, each will be paid the same. The Board of Industry is already in operation. We then are going to nationalize corporations on the NYSE. We cannot have capitalists control our lives.”
The speech was modest. However, it was met with opposition. The Republic of New England was being supported by the Great Lakes State. Delmarva was being supported by the Republic of the Atlantic. Each had tied to the Rio Grande. Each was an enemy of the Americas third communist nation. Plans where being written.

General George Henry was leading the Sun Belt Confederacys forces through the city of Bakersfield. The city had initially sided with the Bear Flag Republic. The SoCal-NoCal split had never been more alive. Cascadia and the Sun Belt where in a sprint for Sacramento, the Capitol of the Bear Flag Republic. The NoCal state had been collapsing due to internal policy, Henry, however, is gonna go after a prize more precious then Sacramento. San Francisco would be key to controlling the Golden State. The plan is to March up to Fresno and then to break for San Francisco. Then, Henry looks down at the ground and finds a government letter in the ruins of a post office. It reads: To the honorable General Gavin Newsom II. You read the letter and find battle plans. The Bear Flag is retreating because Cascadia is in Chico. Everything seems to be going to Sun Belts way. The Sun Belt captures San Francisco and the gulf while Cascadia captures San Francisco.

The United Nations was struggling. In losing the US, it lost both its headquarters and a permanent security council member. Although the Republic of the Rio Grande filled the latter purpose, the headquarters became a struggle. China offered to host the UN in Shanghai. Russia backed this but Britain, France, and the Rio Grande opposed it. The UN was torn apart. Eventually, most American nations gave up trying to join. The organization went into free fall.
The Atlantic Treaty Organization on the other hand was still going strong. The infusion of Latin American blood had strengthened the nation. However, Peru was yet to joined. Having liberalized after 2025, the nation became a battleground of ideas between Brazil and China. Ultimately after lining up the Brazilian army in the Amazon, Peru joined the ATO.
Speaking of battlegrounds, East Africa and South Africa began to clash over Zambia. East Africa had made a push into that nation like they had Comoros. South Africa, who was expanding northward. In Mukopa, South Africa won a major engagement. It would not be the last time conflict would range in Africa.
In the meantime, DeJon had set up his cabinet in the Rio Grande. In a conference with Dixie and the Great Plains, he was able to get the Redmud Dollar adopted (named after a Tulsa Financial Consul.) He began to look out West to consider expanding into the Sun Belt and getting a Pacific Port. With the Sun Belt Confederacy having just conquered San Francisco, now seemed the perfect time. An invasion was launched. Quickly, SoCal fell into Riograndian hands. They moved up the coast conquering the Bay Area. The Central Valley was all that remained. Rio Grandian forces took over that region in December 2053.

Presiding Consul Justin DeJon couldn’t stay in power forever, Rio Grande was still a republic. DeJon was very popular in his first re-election bid in 2051, but 2056 was shaping up to be different. Instead of being challenged by the Constitutionals, he was receiving a challenge from the LPSA. Elena Hickenlooper had been picking up steam in the mountainous region on the promise of peace and forming five new states out of the occupied Sun Belt region. DeJon remained popular in Plano-Frisco and the surrounding regions as Dallas-Fort Worth had become the beating heart of the Rio Grandean economy. However, San Antonio and Austin where in favor of Hickenlooper, half Hispanic, in a Hispanic-majority region. Polls showed Hickenlooper beating DeJon in the Federal election, so DeJon knew he had to act fast.
That was why DeJon was in Mexico City. Since the fall of the US almost ten years prior, Mexico like much of the world had taken a pretty big hit and was know in debt to China and Brazil. Mexico, not wanting to be close with China, began to get desperate. Revolts had broken out in the Yucatán, but where put down. Then riots started in Mexico City. President Antonio was forced from power, allowing a new leader, Martin Lopez, to come to power. Lopez began with meeting with DeJon. DeJon and the Rio Grande were getting drunk on expansion, and Lopez knew that Mexico was getting weaker. He sold each Mexican state along the border with the Rio Grande as well as in the Yucatán and Baja California Sur to Rio Grande for 10,000,000,000 Rio Grande Notes.
DeJon’s popularity soared as he admitted Mexican states to the Republic. In Monterey, a new language was developing, referred to as Grandesian. The population of Rio Grande also became one of the most bilingual. Hickenlooper lost her bid for the Presiding Consul, and instead was appointed to Parliament .

China began to sweat as the early 2050s came. Having been the dominant power in the decade since America imploded, Brazil and India where major threats. Brazil began to take more aggressive steps to counter Chinese Influence. First was the collapse of BRICS as Brazil, India, and South Africa left to form the United Republics, with the support of ATO and other organizations. The UR set up a governing council, where certain nations would act as guardians over there regions democracies and republics. Brazil became that for the Americas.
With good reason was this done. China backed in 2053 a bid for the EU to Federalize. Josef Jenn ran a campaign to lead the Brussels lead organization, with Chinese support. However, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Spain wanted out. They gained Brazilian support. The stage was set for the European war.
