A thread to create generic alternate governance systems.
Imperial Republicanism
Implemented in: America, Europe,
Developed from: Monarchy, Republicanism, Imperialism
Way it works: The King-Emperor is the head of state and head of government. He is elected for life. He organizes his Council of Deputies, which may handle as follows: Deputy of State, Deputy of the Treasury, Deputy of the Army, Deputy of the Navy, Deputy of Economic Affairs, etc. The Parliament of Representatives is elected for life, representing every 100,000 people in a district, with each district having at least 1 Representative. The Supreme Judiciary is composed of a judge appointed by the King-Emperor (or perhaps his Deputy of Justice) and serves for life. The other eight members are composed of randomly selected citizens.
History: After a peace deal was reached between Britain and American rebels in 1776 in the Declaration of Unity, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Quebec, Canada, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia became districts. Several years later, after Napoleon overthrew the French monarchy in a populist revolt and conquered much of Europe, his daughter, Josephine Bonaparte, married King George IV. This unity caused the formation of a new parliament in London, uniting much of Europe and its colonies.
Theocratic Republicanism
Implemented in: North America (Intermountain West)
Developed from: Republicanism, Theocracy, early forms of Communism
Way it works: The Prophet serves as the head of state and head of government, for life. He runs both the affairs of Church and State. The House of Congress is elected from various districts, one congressmen or women serving every 10,000 persons. The court is headed by the Prophet
History: After emigrating to what was then Utah, Civil War broke out in the Eastern United States. As it really got bad when Maryland joined the Confederacy, Brigham Young lead the church in Deseret to revolt. They adopted a governance system lead by the Church.
Post any other alternate governance styles here.
