Since it's happening today, I wonder how Greco-Romans would react to the Superbowl?
It's bound to pop up in their YouTube recommendations at some point, and I imagine the flashing lights and amplified music of the half-time performance wouldn't go unnoticed.

I suspect it would appeal to the Romans more than the Greeks, although probably not violent enough for the former. They might be more interested in the Olympic Games, both summer and winter as those while have more associations for them, especially the Greeks. Mind you what they think of the current drugs scandal, or women competing for that matter would be interesting.

On another note, I’m now imagining uptimer heads of state greeting downtimer authorities, wearing purple garments of some sort? Given how expensive and luxurious purple dye was—and how it’d take a while to explain how colored dyes are actually cheap to mass-manufacture now—it’d send a message to the Greco-Roman masses for the POTUS to wear a purple tie, or for Merkel to wear a purple pantsuit.

A female leader wearing a pantsuit would definitely have an impact.

The “female leader” part, the pants on the suit, the purple dye, or all three?

Probably all three. Although thinking about it the traditional dress for both Romans and Greeks didn't include trousers so that could be less of a shock to them that 'northern barbarian' women dress differently.

I suppose, though it's rather hard for them to try and frame a civilization thousands of years ahead of them as "boorish barbarians". Certainly, they're nothing like the Germanic people they're used to, though part of me wonders what more tribal downtimers would think of modern Germany and its ethnically similar neighbors? Anyway, since it was a significant aftershock of the World Wars and marked the dissolution of history's largest empires, it'd be interesting what Greco-Roman history buffs say about decolonization. Decolonization and Nationalism Triumphant: Crash Course World History #40Somehow, I'm guessing many downtimers might tell Britain and France that they should've kept their empires.
