Ghost Storm - Burza duchów Ghost Storm ( polski dubbingGHOST STORM - Movie Review - Supernatural Horror - Slammarang!Supernatural horror with a weird twist. It has been described as The Mist/The Fog meets Tornado. The premise is that vengeful spirits take up a collective form of a storm or hurricane then proceed to terrorize a town. What they do is they poke out tendrils from the storm and enter the mouths of people, instantly turning them to ash, killing the victims, and bringing their souls to the supernatural storm. This was one of the weirdest B-movies on the Cinemax Asia channel. I saw this movie around January 2014 when I was in the second semester of college. I didn't have classes on Fridays and I was at home preparing to study for the upcoming mid-term examinations which was going to be right after the annual Sinulog Festival. I decided to take a break so I skimmed the TV. When I reached Cinemax Asia, I saw this was coming up and decided to give it a chance. The result was that I kept on laughing on how bad the plot was. The next day it was a Saturday as part of our community extensions services, my classmates and I had to form a human barricade along the Sinulog procession route. While waiting for the parade, I was talking about this movie with my classmates who also saw this movie and we just kept laughing at it. The next day was a free-rave day. However, it's "so bad that it's good" status is a result of having a laughable plot that it received a cult following. Funny enough, many people for Halloween 2013 dressed up as the Sharknado.   |

I'll be doing a post on Sharknado tomorrow. I've only seen the first movie so far and haven't really followed it. Nonetheless, I'm surprised it has received a cult following. Who can not love flying sharks inside a tornado, except animal activist of course. |

I was still in first year college in my Biology major when the first Sharknado came out. Being a Biology major, I had colleagues taking up Marine Biology and they grilled on how ASB the plot is. Nonetheless we all enjoyed watching and laughing on how stupid the plot is. Little did I know this franchise would become successful and spawn more movies. I have yet to watch the four other films.

Tomorrow, I will post about another B-movie. Today, I will feature the studio lot used for filming in Bulgaria. This is from Nu Image, an American film studio based in Los Angeles, California. The company is known to produce action films, either big screen Hollywood or Direct-to-DVD B-movies, which are filmed in either South Africa or Bulgaria. Below are images of the Nu Boyana Film Studios which was purchased by the company in 2005. This replica town has been used to double as New York City, London, Los Angeles, or any typical unnamed American or European city. Since I watched The Meg (2018) starring Jason Statham with my dad on HBO Asia last night, I realized the Asylum created a mockbuster with an obvious misleading title.

Rock MonsterALICIA LAGANO ROCKS in ROCK MONSTER!This is one of the enjoyable movies I have yet to finish even though I already read the ending. I saw this movie when I was my family and my cousins in the U.S. were driving from Michigan to Florida in the Summer 2014. I saw this on the SyFy Channel in a motel in Kissimmee, FL as we rested for the night. Unfortunately could not finish it since we had to wake up early to travel to Kennedy Space Center the following day. The film employs the typical Syfy B-movie cliche: Teens on a fieldtrip, Eastern European village, drunk Eastern Europeans, and an evil KGB-esque village. Nonetheless, my dad and I enjoyed the fact the characters in the film used WWII and Cold War Soviet equipment to fight the rock monster. This included a still-function T-34 tank! Six years later, my friend and I watched this episode in My Strange Addiction about an old woman that eats rocks as a bad habbit. We joked that she would be able to defeat the rock monster easily.
