Considering that the post-Cold War budget cuts did not take place, many countries then retain good mobilization capacity and a rapid military reaction. Plus a population attentive to security advice and public security efforts. the situation should not be too dire. The ending scene did show the military, police, and civilian militia casually mowing down slow zombies. The next day was basically a large free-for-all for the living. The militia would enjoy beer and BBQ: www.imfdb.org/images/7/79/NOTLD90arrev.jpg

That is actually the growth in the number of firearms in the US that year. The total number is far greater than that. In fact I think the normal estimate is around 1-1 in terms of people and guns IIRC.

So all these guns and knowledge would ensure Americans how to deal with future outbreaks?

It would help although there would be problems like at the end of the classic zombie film where the lone survivor of a group ends up getting shot by vigilantes who took him for a zombie.

They greatly changed it in this remake. They made Barbara more badass.

We'd probably see a change in protocol of dealing with the recently deceased. Probably they get the nail to the head before burial.

Or simply cremation? Which might go against some religious or cultural traditions but if a matter of survival things can often change quite rapidly.

Yeah, cremation would probably be mandatory. To destroy the remaining trace of the virus and/or the radiation keeping the dead alive.

Yeah, cremation would probably be mandatory. To destroy the remaining trace of the virus and/or the radiation keeping the dead alive. Remember that in a scene in the Movie World War Z that even burned zombies still where able to move some parts of their bodies.

Yes, it needs to be a huge fire and not just a simple one to really fry the brain.
