Assuming this takes place around November 2004, the events of the first National Treasure occurred with Ben Gates finding the treasure under Trinity Cathedral in New York occurred, how would this affect U.S. politics since it was an election year?
Same for Book of Secrets assuming it takes place in 2007 and there was a fictional president in the film. The treasures lies inside Mount Rushmore. Will the gold found ever be able to cancel the 2008 economic recession?
What will history and archelogegy become? Will it open a craze of treasure hunters?

Not watched the films, although might have caught the tail end of the 1st one once. However can't see any amount of gold being able to sort out the mess that the financial 'industry' had made by 2008 and I fear if such a hoard was found assorted groups would seek to use it for their own ends, which probably won't help much and could make things worse.

Not just the gold but other relics. A significant portion were returned to Cairo, London, Beijing, and elsewhere as the treasures came from all over the world. |

The end of the 2004 film states that majority of it were distributed to the American museums and other museums in Cairo, London, and Beijing. The main characters got 1% of the share. |

It probably got confiscated because the IRS suspected his salary could not pay for a Ferrari. |
