In addition to technological wonders like fancy spaceships and advanced robots, another hallmark of science fiction are the strange and diverse array of aliens that populate outer space. Though genre juggernauts like Star Wars and Star Trek tend to depict them in a more relatable light--with them not being terribly different than humans aside from minor biological distinctions and 'Planet of Hats' specialties that most audiences can comprehend--it's more likely that in truth, whatever aliens that exist beyond our blue-green spheroid of a world are far weirder and more fathomless than most people can imagine. With that in mind, what are some scientifically plausible possibilities as far as astrobiology is concerned? To get the thread started, here's part one of this YouTuber's multi-video, seemingly ongoing take on how life might evolve on his custom-made, but nonetheless feasible (though ultimately speculative) alien planet. Here's the playlist, for those interested--though I've already posted his first video down below. Alien Biospheres: Part 1 - The Planet (ft. Artifexian)Thank you in advance, Zyobot

Damn you that's 3 hours gone! Bloody fascinating, although not sure how stable that H2S component in the atmosphere would be. Suspect as with him saying that two different animals can't occupy the same niche I think probably the H2S and the life forms based on it are likely to be elbowed aside and confined to locations such as the deep ocean trenches as on Earth. Still very interesting and thanks for the link. Have to have a look at some of those Artificer links some time.

Due to the fact that they're relevant for obvious reasons, here are some more Isaac Arthur videos exploring what certain types of aliens he identifies would probably be like. AI AliensAncient AliensBenevolent AliensCrazy AliensDead AliensAnd there's definitely more where those came from, it seems.

In science fiction aliens always speak English and in doctor who they speak English with British accents! I like to see a s.f. that deals with translating a alien culture.

To revive a thread that's been dormant for a few weeks, here's an interesting lecture from Harvard University on the odds that other intelligent life exist out there.

As something else interesting that's relevant to this thread, here's what Isaac Arthur thinks what could happen upon us being introduced to whatever galactic community exists out there, teeming with real-life aliens and all.
Welcome to the Galactic Community!

Let's watch another one from Isaac Arthur, due to how interesting and imaginative his videos tend to be.

Perhaps I sound like a broken record at this point, but because I thought it was worth sharing anyway, let's watch another one of Isaac Arthur's videos on what alien life could plausibly exist out there.

I suppose that, still in the vein of scientifically plausible extraterrestrial beings, here's a more unique one on biological vessels that might travel about in space.

I remember being fascinated with biology where carbon is replaced by silicium. Such weird creatures. Looks like rocks, expire sand. So bizarre !
