Sounds like tough little ships to survive torpedo hits like that. Think the fate of HMS Pym was rather overkill however.  |

Good summary of the immediate impact for the fleets but he missed one big elephant in the room in terms of what it meant for supporting infrastructure in terms of the construction capacity. Britain kept its facilities reasonably intact by some subsidy of armour and big gun capacity but the depression meant that the continuation of the capital ship building holiday coupled with the ending of those subsidies mean a disastrous collapse in the capacity for replacing ships or building new ones when the run up to WWII began. As well as leaving Britain with a serious bloc obsolescence problem in terms of its battle fleet.
