Aside from depictions of your species in fiction and myth, how has your kind largely avoided the public eye? Barring speculation by conspiracy theorists or what Area 51 probably knows about you, of course?

Long answer: I personally live in the shadows. I've chosen this island nation Britain as my home, occupying a part of it to the east near the sea. I have a territory of my own, which I guard jealously, of all that I can see from above. I have resting spots scattered about where I sleep. Those are in lonely places where humans turn their noses up at entering: abandoned and forgotten buildings, tunnels, caves and such like. There are others elsewhere, in all places where there is food available, who have their domains but mine is mine to myself. I am a lonely vampire, thus I am on the internet talking to curious humans, but I do technically live alone because I want it that way. |

Long answer: we learnt long ago to hunt 'smart'. We feast among the ravages of human society. Those who you forget, ignore and despise are food to me. No one misses them and they provide nourishment. Modern radars and camera phones are a problem though, a damn big one. Governments suspect a lot of things and there are some people out there who want to come after us. They want to kill me for just existing. I have rights. I am a living being. |
