The POD is that James Earl Carter Sr. dies at the age of 80 in 1974. OTL, he died at the age of 59 in 1953. His son James Earl Jr. or Jimmy as we know him, felt obligated to leave the Navy and move back to his hometown to take over the family business. Billy was 16 at the time. ITTL Billy has been running the family business for years. Jimmy stays in the Navy and becomes Chief of Naval operations. The question is ITTL who wins the 1976 Democratic Presidential nomination. Does he, i am assuming it is a he, win?
