One thing I wonder about 1985-A and "[Richard] Nixon seeks fifth term" in the newspaper is, given the kind of person Richard Nixon was (a venal paranoid thug), how has he lasted sixteen years as President (by 1985) without either trying to backstab Biff Tannen or do a screw-up that's so bad even Biff can't fix it? Also why is it in Biff's interests to prolong the Vietnam War (by 1985, America will have been involved with the Saigon government for 21 years)?. Biff doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would give a poop about the Red Menace. Maybe he has a lot of money invested in the military industrial complex.
