In what manner could there have been violence bordering on civil war during the Soviet collapse? I'm thinking after the August Coup. There was already plenty of trouble. What I am asking is how bad could things have got and why too?

That and anything else though personally, those coup plotters never could have had the stomach for that seeing as the weakness they showed. Maybe someone follows their lead, takes on the mantle instead, but that cabal was full of those with softness.

In fact i assume we would have a Tripple Soviet Civil War with members of the Soviet Union who want to sucsed.

This could be a far more destructive version of the 1918-22 Russian civil war as even if no nukes or chemical weapons are used there's a hell of a lot of military equipment and trained troops to be drawn into any such battle, whatever side their on.

Ukraine was the after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Ukraine held about one third of the Soviet nuclear arsenal, the third largest in the world at the time, as well as significant means of its design and production. 130 UR-100N intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) with six warheads each, 46 RT-23 Molodets ICBMs with ten warheads apiece, as well as 33 heavy bombers, totalling approximately 1,700 warheads remained on Ukrainian territory. If there is a Soviet Civil War, that is going to be a key to Ukraine independence i guess.

Yes that could be very important. Depending on the presence of loyalist forces in the country when things goes to hell but an independent Ukraine could be popular both on national groups by the population and also simply as a way of avoiding getting dragged into the Russian civil war.

For the loyalist forces, I could see the same committee that arrested Gorbachev become the primary movers. The rebels on the other hand, might either be led by any former Red Army officer who turned his cloak (for the mainly Russian portion of the Red Army), though you'd see Baltic separatists, Ukrainian separatists, Caucasian separatists, and other various kind of factions that would arise.

Would we see other Warsaw Pact countries picking a side.

I suspect, especially if the chaos inside the USSR meant that Soviet forces inside eastern Europe were withdrawn as a result, assorted communist leaders inside the old WP states would be too busy trying [and probably failing] to stay in power. it could be nasty if hard liner elements inside Russia threatened nuclear strikes against any satellite nation that overthrow its communist regime.
