So, the reason I'm putting this hear is because I thought it would be interesting to have five people run for President who were never born in the United States per OTL and what party you would think they would belong to as well as their home state.
1) Konrad Adenauer - West German Chancellor and born in 1876.
2) Grigori Rasputin - Russian Monk and born in 1869
3) Raymond Poincaré - French President during WW1 and born in 1860
4) Francisco Franco - Dictator of Spain and born in 1892
5) Vittorio Emanuele Orlando - Prime Minister of Italy and born in 1860.
Which one of these are the most interesting choices for an alternate President and what do you think would be the effect on the world at large?

Is this for an election in 2020 or some other time? Also does it include OTL candidates or just those 5 in the running? Presuming they have something of their OTL characters- although at what age? - and of course a fake background so they could stand and knowledge of their new environment?
Pending such details my guestimate would be that Franco and Poincare would be Republicans, Orlando perhaps a Democrat and Adenauer might go either way, at least if going for a 2020 election. Rasputin would be a real wild card. What home states they would have I don't really know. Possibly going by what I think are concentrations of people from their initial countries say Adenauer [somewhere in the central farming belt or possibly the old industrial heartland] Rasputin [possibly his type of manic personality might fit in somewhere in the old south or the west coast] Poincare [only French community I know of is around new Orleans] Franco [somewhere in the south, say Texas or California] Orlando [probably east coast and old industrial region].

It's for a TL I have plans to post on AH.com soon once I have it fully developed and such. It's POD takes place during the ACW, near the end of it, and is a major political POD that doesn't really effect the outcome of the war. I can message you a link to what I have planned but I still need a definitive winner for this poll so I can do my planned TL.

Do not think it is a 2020 election, if so this thread will have to be move as it might enter current politics, i think genyodectes, has not issued a date when they run, but it must be between 1900 and 2019. I think i will go with Konrad Adenauer as my choice.

In which case and given your reply to Lordroel about the 35 year limit on age their not going to be standing before ~1900-1910 at the earliest and for Franco not before 1927 so likely to be standing at different times.
Think Adenauer would be the best option if their personalities are similar to OTL but some of the others would definitely be interesting. Albeit possibly in the Chinese way for Rasputin and perhaps Franco or Poincare. If your asking who is most likely to win it would depend on the US at the time their standing and their opponents. For instance OTL JFK in 1960 was the 1st Catholic candidate to win the Presidency and there was some concern at the time his religion could fatally undermine his bid. Similarly Al Smith tried a couple of times in the 1920's I think it was but is widely seen as being seriously handicapped by being a Catholic. As such unless there is a radically different US, or their changed their religion I suspect none of them would succeed in standing, since all are Catholic other than Rasputin who's Russian Orthodox would be even more alien to most of the population of the US at that point.
Would say that Adenauer is the best candidate for a US which is doing reasonably well or even possibly in economic difficulties. Possibly Poincaré or even Franco for a US facing immediate military danger, although the latter especially could have nasty lasting side effects. Rasputin under no circumstances and if anything like OTL character I can't see him being elected at all. Orlando I would need to read up on.

I have a wikipedia sandbox featuring my plans for US Presidents at the very bottom, if anyone is interested in seeing them. Just reply here if you'd like to see the list and I'll send it to you.
