I have no computer skills whatsoever so most of my "map making" consists of printing stuff off the internet and then modifying things by hand. I've always been intrigued by this "map" from the Red Storm Rising Wikipedia entry. I've always wanted to also work in "The Third World War: The Untold Story", "The War That Never Was" and "Red Phoenix" upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/1a/Redstormrisingmap.pngI printed it out, enlarge it as much as possible to still see it all at once and modified it so far by using colored pencils to add Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela, Guinea, Libya, South Yemen, Syria, Iran, Vietnam and North Korea as Soviet allies. Any helpful advice would be much appreciated.

I look forward to seeing it. I'm afraid I can't offer any help. The few maps I make and using MS Paint and are 'fill with colour', no more.

Perhaps it can inspire useful insights and advice. I'm also looking up black and white icons for battle sites, ships sinking, and nuclear explosions (for Birmingham, England, Minsk and perhaps one for North Korea).
