So with the Gulf War 1991 - Operation Desert Storm in real time to start soon, we need of course some new small real time wars, the one currently being worked on is the: Anglo-Zanzibar War of 1896. I hoop to get other smaller wars in real time posted this year as well. Isn't that the war that lasted about 30 minutes? Not going to be a lot to cover there. See Anglo-Zanzibar_War for a bit more detail. I have been thinking would it be worthwhile, as the number grows that completed day by day threads that completed ones be relocated to a sub-folder under the main one. Otherwise the list of completed threads stuck to the top of the this one is going to get longer and longer. Any currently active non-sticky threads could end up a page or two down shortly. Noticed I'm sometimes missed new posts in such threads because their some way below the window my browser gives and have to remember to scroll down.
Well that is why i also post the events leading up to the war. Could transfer the wars that are completed, good idea, will do it right away.

OK on the 1st, although the trigger seems to be the death of the previous pro-British sultan two days before so probably not a long period to cover.
On the 2nd thanks. As I say very useful resources to keep but their rather clogging up the current folder.

Well its going to be using much of the Wikipedia article you posted and other information i could find, plus a lot of pictures of course. I try to search for wars i can post in real time about, but i need day to day events for that, and they are not easy to find these wars, but i do my best to add Wars in real time as i like making them. Have created a Real-time Archive for the Wars that have been finished, thanks for the tip stevep.

Well you might not find entries for every day, which may be your desire, without a hell of a lot of digging which won't be worthwhile but possibly the 7 Years War or the Napoleonic conflict - although the latter would be so long that its likely you can't find events every day.
Another alternative might possibly be the 7 week's war, which is historically important and might be late enough and short enough that you can find at least some reference for most/all days?

The football war is relatively little known but could be useful for that reason. The Suez Crisis is a good possibility as recent enough to have a lot of information about it and also strategically and politically important as it demonstrated the level of British and French dependency on US economic power.
Thanks for clearing up the completed threads. Where have you located them please?

You know, working on the Anglo-Zanzibar War of 1896 timeline has now lasted longer than the events leading up to it and the war itself, and i still need to improve it.
Did try if i could do the slovak–hungarian war 1939 in real time but there is not much of a day to day TL out there, Football War of 1969 is the same.
That means i will have to check out the Suez Crisis and others to see if i can get some more Wars in Real time to join the others i already have posted here.

I would be quite happy if you kept it as it is now. You have two big projects with the two world wars and one or two smaller ones balance things out nicely. Just noticing earlier that we're just over 500 days into WWII so only about another 1600 to go! Just don't overdo it. After all you have the day by day history of the rise and fall of the Roman Empire to do yet.

Think more about doing the Three Hundred and Thirty Five Years' War, might be boring as nobody gets killed in it expect old age. Just kidding, maybe you are right, stevep , as always you give good advice, but it will not stop me from looking for a new one, just put it on hold and focus on the once i am now doing and the Anglo-Zanzibar War of 1896 which i still trying to clean up.

With the WWII entry for today I noticed some small points.
a) The 1st paragraph for the attacks on Italian E Africa is actually under an Operation Compass heading.
b) Small typo in the Med battle section. You have
Have an additional h on the its.
c) The 1st two paragraphs under the Battle of the Atlantic are more related to German bombing of Britain. At the start of the next paragraph is a not underlined battle of Atlantic so suspect the other should be a Battle of Britain/Blitz or something like that.

One small error with today's WWII post. You have a reference to "Manchukuo (Mongolia)" but Manchukuo was the name for the puppet state in Manchuria.
Otherwise looking good. Many thanks again.

Thanks, will change it, seems that WW II has the most flaws in it, need to have some talks with the Trolls who make the daily WW II updates.
