As crazy as it might sound, back in 1867, before Alaska was formally offered to the US, Russia approached Liechtenstein asking if they wanted to buy Alaska.
The offer was in the end rejected.
Let us suppose, it went through.
What are the possible effects of this?

Well apart from anything else that would be in breach of the Monroe doctrine. True that's just a US statement without any legal weight in international law but especially so soon after winning the civil war its likely to try and demand the transfer of Alaska to it, albeit probably with some payment to Liechtenstein and other than possibly Britain there's not really anyone in a position to stop them.
Mind you given the resources of Liechtenstein I think if Russia offered to give the province to them for free, unless the current grand duke was a megalomania like Leopold II of Belgium, I can't really see them accepting it. How much money would it take to try and govern it, let alone maintain law and order in a barren wilderness so far from Liechtenstein itself?

It most certainly did occur. The head of Liechtenstein's ruling family confirmed it last year to silence the severe disbelief which initially came in his country & elsewhere that this was true. |

I think if Liechtenstein buys Alaska, it will sell it to Prussia ore what will become Germany after 1870 for more money than it bought it, then German Alaska is invaded by the Canadians in 1914 and it becomes a Canadian province after that, but that is just what is think. |

I think if Liechtenstein buys Alaska, it will sell it to Prussia ore what will become Germany after 1870 for more money than it bought it, then German Alaska is invaded by the Canadians in 1914 and it becomes a Canadian province after that, but that is just what is think. I like that idea. Good sequence of events. |
