Introduction:
For many years in history the story of the competition of the "East" and the "West" has always been present ever since the first years since history began. The East has always been known as the site of large autocratic empires, the Mongol Empire, the Huns, the pre-1916 Russian, and many more. While the West was known as the beacon of freedom and democracy. This all changed when the 20th century rolled in with the attempted assassination attempt of US president William McKinley in 1901. Then the East changed itself as a beacon of freedom and capitalism and the West as a sad site of bureaucratic communism. This is the story of the Reverse Cold War.

Well, this certainly piques my interest. In addition to my attempts at discussing a reverse Cold War, yours reminds me of 'Back in the USSA'--though I get the distinct impression that its focus will be on the two competing blocs overall, rather than the leaders of said blocs (though I don't doubt that some will emerge here).
Anyways, I'll be on watch for the next update.

Depending on the definition of east and west this could be a hell of a challenge but looking forward to seeing what develops.
Sounds like the POD is the failure of the McKinley assassination means Teddy Roosevelt doesn't become President and no war on the trusts and big business. Ironically just referenced this in another thread on this site.  |

That's a question that's puzzling me. Mind you what if the definition of East in this scenario? For a US based scenario it could mean Europe, or as OTL some democratic Russia or even a democratic China and India say. Its difficult with a POD as recent as 1901 to see Russia let alone China becoming the champions of democracy. Doubt its totally impossible but with the huge social and political changes that would be needed its going to be tough. [Easier to see things going badly wrong in the west]. Also does this also mean that other areas are split between sphere's of influence of the super-powers? That would suggest, with a close copy that western Europe is also blighted by communism while eastern Europe becomes a stronghold of democracy.
