- Each AAV holds 21+3 crew. Since there were 5 AAVs landing on the beach on Isla Sorna, that would make it 120 Marines.

A lot of fire power for just some dinosaurs, if the Marines had killed them, then they would be in problem with PETA (if they are concern for the well being of dinosaurs].

If the U.S. wanted to eradicate all life on Sorna, all it needs to do is to send B-52s, B-1s, and B-2s and use lots of napalm. That's the ending of the Jurassic Park novel by Michael Crichton, albeit it was the [non-existent] Costa Rican Air National Guard that conducted the firebombing on Isla Sorna.

Especially interesting that they were assuming such large forces from W Germany so early. by D Day + 30 they would have 20 divisions deployed, markedly more than anyone in NATO had in Europe. I suspect this would be unlikely in reality as much of the country would be overrun in the 1st few days, even in a purely conventional war.

Of course those plans, set in 1952 when the Korean War was still ongoing so it was probably expected that the US and UK especially are likely to have other forces committed in the Far East and elsewhere.

The West German figures for M+30 are not additional divisions, but total forces, or 12 divisions. The rate of Soviet advance would certainly constrain the mobilisation capacity of a few states.

This data is from the Korean War conventional build up period before the H-Bomb and before the New Look crippled conventional forces for the better part of 25-30 years.

OK thanks. I obviously misread things.

Plus failed to notice that both Italy and France have even larger forces. It might be partly that the naval forces are a) at start forces and b) additional forces and I assumed that the land forces are the same.
