Okay then, What if Pokemon refused to go into poke balls. It'd likely wind up disastrous for society as a whole. The Pokeball market (which I assume is pretty big) would crash, and people would be able to carry less of them at a time. I also imagine that trainers would let members of their team go or have them kicked out, making the sight of stray Pokemon a common sight. Governments would probably declare national emergencies as policymakers scramble to find a solution to this issue, i.e. some way of containing their beloved pocket monsters that's more appealing to them.
Another question I've had is whether non-Legendary, non-Mythical Pokemon with no human contact could understand human speech, i.e. giant squid-like creatures in the darkest depths of the oceans. Marine life that lives at or near the surface understanding humans since they're that close to them, I can get behind.
