My parents saw it in an old theater here in Cebu. Lots of Cebuanos lined up for it. I take it they liked what they saw, as was probably true for upwards of 90% of viewers? Definitely. Consider that the Philippines in the 1970s was very Americanized since the U.S. military bases were still present. So American culture was very evident (going back to the 1901, even became famous after WWII). Consider that Star Wars: A New Hope was one of a kind. People enjoy seeing space ships, aliens, and energy weapons for it employed the newest SFX at that time. |
