I think that despite the year and the geo-political situation, there'd be a 'local' attachment of at least a company, maybe a battalion from another country or two within the Western Hemisphere. Even to be there as MPs.

Hmm, nice ORBAT you have there. If an invasion were to commence, I'd guesstimate that it'd be launched at some point in the 2020s. The way the things are headed nowadays, Venezuela probably won't last much longer.

Nice Orbat forconLets hope it does not happen this year, as i might be force to move this thread to Politics and Current Affairs as it will then violate the Future History - 1 year rule.

Even to be there as MPs. I couldn't think of any nations that would commit forces. Maybe Poland or an Eastern European NATO state?

I don't think an invasion will happen to be honest. It's just a thought exercise more than anything. I had the whole thing in mind as more of an intervention in a civil war but I don't really know.

Did you misread Jame's comment as he was talking specifically about the western hemisphere, i.e. the Americas? Did so myself the 1st time and was wondering want European power would want to jab a finger into such a mess. Could see some Latin American powers making at least a token commitment. Both possibly to win browny points with the US and because they want to prevent it being seen as solely a US operation.

Think the Netherlands will get involved, mostly due the location of Aruba wich is approximately 15 miles off the coast of Venezuela, Curaçao is about 40 miles north of Venezuela, and Bonaire is 50 miles away from Venezuela.

That's a possible point. The Venezuelan government has already closed the border so that could become a flash point.

But had no idea to go post-invasion. Can the Dutch take them back on their own? If not, will the US and UK, maybe others, join them? Create a thread and I'll have a look!

The Thing is that if Madurodam decides to declare war on the Netherlands, he is also inderictly declaring war on the EU due to their joint defence pact. And the EU Will be very interested in presenting itself in a positive light.

Well France and the United Kingdom might support the Netherlands but if the United States launches SOUTHERN FURY in the future, then it will not get much help from the EU except some countries like France and the Netherlands i think. EU warns AGAINST military intervention as tensions intensify
