As we all know, the Austrian Corporal was a bit more in touch with reality in 1933-34 than in 1944-45. *handwave* What if he had somehow stayed that way? Effects? My good friend stevep might know?

Very much so I suspect. Hitler was deeply delusional right from the mid-20's if you believe what he said and wrote. He became more irrational as the war turned against him but he was already well off the rails before he invaded Poland.

A rational Nazi Germany isn't a Nazi Germany. The whole of its ideology was wholly irrational. Simple as; the rational version would be Prussia/German Empire mk 2 - a more Franco or Mussolini type state.
