The name is Putin, Vladimir VladimirovichA recent discovery in the Stasi files. Such things lead to imaginations that Putin was a super spy: cocktail parties, chasing foreign spies in fast cars and being clever than the bad guys in the end. But, if we're being honest, it was probably all boring. A history of KGB activities working inside the Stasi would be interesting to read. They certainly spies in there - probably not Putin - but others who closely-controlled everything that they did.

As far as i can discover the pass was mostly so he could enter Stasi offices unhindered and made it easier to recruit agents, because he would not have had to mention his KGB affiliation.
