To those of us who've lived to see social media, toy drones and a smartphone in everyone's pocket, it can seem painfully obvious that the visionaries of yesteryear were often off the mark completely--especially in the realm of science fiction. Because they lacked concepts of science and technology that we tend to take for granted today, iconic works like the original iterations of Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica appear quaint and in certain ways, bereft of foresight.
Say that ASB wants to change all of that by making pre-21st Century science fiction creators aware of modern STEM, so that their works might better reflect the advancements that are yet to come (or at least, would've been yet to come IOTL). What happens next?
Thank you in advance, Zyobot

What happens next? Thank you in advance, Zyobot I would love to give one of my greatest witters namely Arthur C. Clarke some books about space from 1970 to 2018 before he publish one of my favorite books called 2001: A Space Odyssey in 1968.

I'd recommend giving him plenty of material about modern STEM in general; that way he'll be aware of internet, smartphones and other Silicon Valley wonder tech and able to incorporate those advancements into his work. Better yet, give him and other downtimers plenty of 21st Century sci-fi, too--I doubt that I'm the only one who wants to see them react to such works as The Martian, The Expanse, etcetera .

That would be great, lets put it all on a laptop with solar charger, this way we also can give him the The Expanse TV series, The Martian the movie and lets trow in Babylon 5 all season as well.

No other takers? I do not think there are any more takers, remember, this is a small forum.

Do you have any other downtimer sci-fi creators who'd have interesting responses to modern STEM knowledge? Aside from Gene Roddenberry or George Lucas, no one else really comes to mind at the moment (at least in my case).

What about we give the Byron Haskin, the director of the 1953 classic The War of the Worlds a copy and of course the means to watch the 2005 version of War of the Worlds winched featured Tom Cruise.

Okay, then. If '~50s and '60s creators were given modern cinema and the opportunity to watch it, I'm interested in what they'd glean. I wonder, for example, what Gene Roddenberry & Co. would make of The Expanse TV series, in addition to all the uptimer Star Trek media that the original inspired the creation of.
