Unsure Where to Put Proposed Thread?

I meant that a Soviet leader at least as murderous and willfully self-destructive as Pol Pot takes the helm and runs the USSR into the ground, like the Khmer Rouge did with Cambodia. Best candidate I can think of is a totally mad Joe Stalin, and even then, he still didn’t wipe out a quarter of his people in four years.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be Stalin, though.

That, and I’d take a step back and look at how many OTL events are probably ASB themselves, yet still happened. Case in point: Nazi Germany, and in a TL where they were butterflied, most would’ve scoffed at a Reich so horrific, it made Stalin’s Russia look like the lesser evil. My point being, that there are times when something that seems too crazy to happen actually can and does happen, so I don’t think we should rule out a Soviet equivalent to Pol Pot arising as impossible.

I will say, though, that I don’t really mind where my thread idea goes much. (I would, however, like to a serious in-thread discussion about whether a Soviet Pol Pot is actually possible or not, regardless of where it’s placed.)

Which is to say, potential confrontations or incidents that could've triggered massive (or even apocalyptic) wars, but ultimately didn't?

Yeah, I don’t see an apocalyptic war happening without post-1900 technology and industrial capacity at play, either.

On another note, I assume a ‘2020s Predictions’ thread is best placed in Politics and Current Affairs?
