Think it is to frivolous to have its own thread as there most likely is not going to be much discussion about it. Understood. On that note, would a 'English Remains Mainly Germanic' thread be too frivolous, despite being a 'Before 1900' thread? In case it's not clear, the premise is that the English language doesn't borrow nearly as many words and terms from other languages like French and Spanish (among others), a tendency that it's very much known for thanks to British exploration efforts IOTL. I think that thread could be in the Before-1900 board.

Though I’d imagine that this also belongs in ‘Before 1900’, would it be too politically charged to post a ‘Modern Nationalism Doesn’t Become Mainstream’ thread there?

What about a 'Distinct American Language Evolves' thread, which would explore American English branching off into becoming its own language rather than remaining a dialect that's mutually intelligible with other varieties of English?

Sorry for the late responds. I think the thread would be good for the Pre-1900 board.

Something tells me that the development of a unique American language would have to follow a timetable similar to Afrikaans, and probably wind up not terribly different from normal English after all.
Also, what about a 'Second Russian Civil War' or thread, would that be distant enough to belong in 'Future History' or is it more appropriate for a more immediate space like 'Politics and Current Affairs'?

I suspect that might depend on whether its something still to come or has already happened in an alternative past?

I mean in the sense of an event yet to come, meaning at some point in OTL future as opposed to in a different TL altogether (which would be preferable, as far as avoiding actual bloodshed goes).

That is, a thread dedicated to discussing constructed languages, which are languages that are actively invented by someone or some committee as opposed to evolving naturally like mainstream language?
I'm also laying the groundwork for my first conlang myself, so it'd also double as a place for advice and clarification on how to best flesh out and expand on what little basics I have so far.

Think General Chat would do for now as i do not know where this kind of subject would fit in.

On another note, and as a thread inspired by this one on AH.com, 'Which Post-1500 Figures Will Be Remembered Millennia Into The Future?'. My first assumption is that it'd belong in 'Future History', but should someone make a case for why more recent individuals deserve mention there, 'Politics and Current Affairs' is my next guess.
