stevep Were the events in Month 2 good, or do they also need clarification?
jenny
Their OK to me. Obviously there's more to Skull Island than I've seen from the films as it refers to about 3,000 Kongs and things like the Skullcrawlers [which aren't present] Bird Ants and Mother Longlegs which are new to me but I can basically accept as some sort of nasty monsters.
With the continental Albion its just something new to me so I don't know anything about its background, culture, size etc so makes it difficult to say anything about how it would respond to the other cultures its meeting or the crisis in general. It sounds like a N America that stayed united with Britain for whatever reason and is probably now the dominate part of the empire given its probable size and that it seems to have the states monarch in Albion rather than lost with the British Is which didn't come along. Of course could be totally wrong on this understanding.
I might have another look on Wiki/Google to see if I can find any reference to it but the only thing I found this morning searching "The Course of Human Events" only seems to refer to an historical book by David McCullough, see Course-Events-Jefferson-Lecture, which seems to be based on a series of lectures.
Thanks
Steve

Well, I will say that the Kong population was ISOT'd before the Skullcrawlers actually invaded the world above, while the Mother Longlegs and Bird Ants were actual creatures described in the film, albeit only for a few seconds or minutes.

Month 1, 0 A.T. (Anno Temporalis)
The morning dawn comes to the landless planet at last, bringing along the first three nations to inhabit it: The United States from OTL 2012, on the day President Barak Obama is sworn in for the second time; Puerto Rico, the U.S Virgin Islands, and all other overseas American territories (excluding the Philippines) are brought along The Continental Provinces of Albion from The Course of Human Events, circa. 2017; its Caribbean island possessions (Cuba and Puerto Rico) and overseas territories of the realm are brought along Panem from the Hunger Games series, during the events of the first movie Within the first few minutes of the Event, there is panic and confusion all around. This sends thousands of people at Washington DC (where the inauguration was taking place) into a frenzy when it is mistaken for a terrorist attack; however, there does't seem to be any suspects around and most of the buildings/landmarks in the city are still intact. The newly inaugurated president, after being briefed on the situation by the White House staff and the FBI, immediately takes action by enacting several emergency measures to bring everything back under control. The US undergoes a brief lockdown until the dust settles and the perceived threat is nonexistent. After checking their surroundings, the Americans realize that they're not on Earth any more, and wherever they ended up on is a planet filled with nothing but water. That...plus they're not the only ones here. Not too far from the US stands a nation similar to it, but with a different history. The Continental Provinces of Albion undergoes the same crisis as its neighbor until the navies of both countries come into contact with each other. A meeting between President Obama and King Michael I is set for next month in Albion's capital city of Americus, to discuss the predicament and a possible economic/cultural alliance. Meanwhile, the appearance of a new continent, where the higher-ups within the government make children fight and kill each other for entertainment purposes, is a cause of alarm for both sides. At the moment the US and Albion can't do anything about it, so the invasion of Panem isn't a possibility for now. So begins the new world's turbulent yet interesting history.
Jenny
Could you please give some background on this one please? I couldn't find anything on it either on Wiki or google, the later mentioning an historical history book from 2013. Sounds like its part of N America from a world where it stayed united with Britain.
Might have a go at a later turn once I get a clearer idea what's going on. Although with 3 nations being added each turn, especially if so many of them are as large as the US its going to fill up and also be very complex pretty quickly as everybody struggles to understand each other.
Steve
It's this. Also, this takes place on a rather larger and landless Earth, so there's plenty of room for a few more countries before the cutoff point for territory ISOTs. But it's not just nations that will be ISOT'd; locations, people, creatures, and items are fair game as well. I hope that's a good enough explanation. If not, I may have to reboot this at some point.

After some thinking, I decided it would be best if I rebooted the game, since the first edition didn't turn out very well. Sorry, guys.

Is that necessary? I don't know anyone who's had any problems with it. I was just asking for some background info on a TL/AW that I didn't know and couldn't find anything about on-line. Suspect that whatever worlds and places are suggested there will be plenty of cases of people not knowing about one or another and wanting to know more, both to enjoy the thread more and to be able to contribute themselves. Is there any on-line source for that Albion I can find out details of as its sparked my curiosity even if you do a reboot and it doesn't come up again?

OK thanks ymano. Is that the Jack Black film, which is the most recent I've seen. Know there was a lot of nasties there as well as the dinos but didn't remember them by those names.

Actually, the Skull Island ISOT'd in was from the 2017 remake, starring Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, and Tom Hiddleston.

Ok thanks. I haven't been to the cinema for a long time and don't do satellite TV so haven't seen that yet. Catch it when it comes on Freeview/terrestrial.

OK many thanks. Have a brief run through it for a couple of hours and looks interesting. Not sure about the very early independence and how closely, from some of the maps, it resembles OTL US but seems a good TL.

Yes, it has some similarities to the US in terms of its history, and there's a whole lot of familiar people mentioned in it like Andrew Jackson (he founded a military academy ITTL). Anyway I'm going to reboot the TL starting today. If you're interested in participating, you're free to do so.
