I read that the first planned date for the Bay of Pigs invasion was in September 1960. What if they were able to do it then? OTL the failed Bay of Pigs led to a wave of public support for Kennedy. A failed Bay of Pigs would probably lead to a wave of support for Eisenhower that would elect Nixon. Would Eisenhower send American air support to help the invaders? If so it would mean the invaders would be dependent on US support. The US would suddenly be involved in a war in Cuba. I am thinking the war would initially be popular and elect Nixon.
