As you say your the German attitude regardless of whatever government it has would be a war of conquest against Poland. You know damned well a lot of the area we're talking about is majority Polish and was before 1914.
Steve
The germans were interested in getting back "their" areas. Nothing else.
In 1914 they had a border, they want back this border. If poles live in that area, fine - as long as they behave. If not they are "allowed" to leave. Nothing else.
A war with poland would happen, but not because evil hun plan to exterminate slaves (OTL version of Nazi agression) but in the sense of Bismarcks" let the poles do the agressive stuff". And - as mentioned, poland was a brutal agressive military dicatorship in that time.
The chance that poland will give germany a chance to get "back their stuff" by stupid moves would be very high. OTL the poles took czech areas in 1938... knowing about Hitler. I would call that stupid beyond imagination.
And no, from a german POV from the 30ties in a weimar-germany it is no war of agression, it is "take back what was stolen the german empire". It is sometimes as simple.
In areas full of germans since 1200 ruled poland. Poles who suppresed germans, removed german civil servants, tried to close german schools... all stuff that is no "crime against humanity", but stuff that ANGERED the people... many were forced to leave poland, because they got no jobs in poland. Guess were they moved in? Right - germany. Guess second what these people would try? Get back their "Homes"... as germans.
That is - also - not nice or happy shining, but that was the methods of that time.
Look at ireland in 1920... the protestants and catholics lived overall in ireland, after the end of the civil war most catholics lived in republic of ireland, most protestants lived in north ireland.
The same would happen after this conflict.
Poles who stay have to accept that they are germans... imperial germany had more rights for polish heritage people as UK had for irish people (suprise surprise)... the ruhr-poles had zero problems to turn into germans... such conflict would create for a decade or two bad blood, but as OTL as the governments of both sides "motivated" people to move to their side of the fence (even if the poles acted quite harsh/brutal in this - and this caused the OTL general opinion in germany that Poland need to be punished HARD for that "insults", something the nazis used quite efficent to infect more people in germany for their mass murdering crimes), in such TL the succsessfull german government would move the "new poles" who settled in that areas after 1918 out, others would need to decide to stay and get german or leave into that "rump poland".
From a modern view this would be called a crime, in the 20ties till 50ties it was normal. Compared with post-ww2-"resettlements" it would be very human and lacking all the brutality, raping, killing, stealing, torturing...
Nothing that a modern german (in that TL) would be proud about, propably they would be ashamed about that, but in no connection to the OTL mass murdering expulsions, killings, enslaving stuff the nazis did.
So stop your bad hidden agenda, thanks a lot.
We describe here not what we want to happen but what WOULD happen.
by the way, if in another scenario after 33 Poland with france had attacked germany (as the poles tried to initate) they would have taken large german areas (with 99% germans living there) and had expulsed/killed them in the same way they did post 45. Not because poles are bad people (i know some modern ones, fine people, propably one of the finest i know), but because the REGIME would use the criminals, the easy to manipulate guys.. think about criminals, sitting in jail for murder, give him a free ride to rape/kill huns and look what will happen. in such scenario the modern poles would be ashamed about what their government had done in 33.
So, just let us concentrate on the scenario.. in this nobody in germany would think much about "polish feelings", if they expulse 1-2 million "newcomers" and "rebellious groups" from "german ground" nobody would sweet much about it.
Just as nobody sweeted in greece about the expulsion of 800k turks from their ground or viceversa in turky as the greecs were expulsed.
But Weimar would NOT, repeat not enslave or slaughter them, would not build a generalgouvernement in that they dump people they want to mass murder. Nope. Just - for that time - common methods, propably more human as for example the british gassing of iraq tribes who did not want to have british overlords.
Poles who need to "leave" get their stuff sold - propably 30-40% below common prices, their stuff will be collected and send to the new adress in "rump poland". Beeing german, all with 3-4 copies for the file cabinet.
Basically like the movement of the russian-germans out of bessarabia in 1940...
