Yes, they can. Throws 1968 into a bit of a different light.
I went down this path because there were no compelling Democratic candidates, with Humphrey not really fitting the paradigm of a Dark Earth wartime leader and Robert Kennedy not yet having got the legislative experience + profile to run. It really accelerates the separation of events.

JuneJune 26: Christopher Lee recovers the stolen Iron Crown after seemingly being caught up in pursuit of the thieves whilst in Venice for the filming of Stanley Kubrick's Napoleon, cornering the villains in his flying Aston-Martin DB5 and subduing them with sword and bartitsu. Secret Agent, Lee, Christopher Lee. Sorry for doing all these single post regarding your June update.

That is alright. Lee had quite the interesting life in @, but here, it is much, much more remarkable.
There will be a crossover with another secret agent named Lee.

June 11: The asteroid Icarus makes its closest pass of the Earth at a distance of some 5 million miles, monitored by US, Soviet and British facilities on the moon in a joint operation of Project Spaceguard. That is good news, at least they can work together on matters related to the destruction of Earth by outside forces.

External forces have a habit of rallying people and countries together against them. The circumstances of based on all three moons in addition to the orbital stations make planetary defence a workable proposition.

They have them, but because of their 20th century histories (and the 19th as well for China), they don’t quite have the same capacity. Compare the ESA to NASA, China or Russia in @.

June 6: German, Austro-Hungarian and Italian troops destroy a Viet Cong regiment in Operation Edelweiss, a concentrated search and destroy operation in South Vietnam. German forces outside their country working with former axis members to engage the Viet Cong, now i wonder what the Americans and British think of that.

A bit ironic, but pleased that their NATO allies are pulling their weight out of area. By @ 1968, most of the wartime issues between the Western powers had long since petered out, at least in a military sense; amongst the civilian populace, there were some different opinions, particularly towards the Germans. It is fairly similar here.
They are a bit more interested in the Red Poles, GDR and other Soviet puppet troops in North Vietnam and the implications of their presence.

Now, on a few ones that might slip through to the keeper:
1.) The USAF Long Term Combat Aircraft Replacement Plan - The ADC supersonic interceptor is a replacement for the F-102 and F-106 and augments the long range F-112s and F-108s; there are proposals for the latter to go to SAC or TAC… - The FX is the F-15 and the LFX the F-16, but neither is going to be exactly as they were in @. Additionally, the Phantom has a lot more service life left and there will be a fourth fighter… - The YB-72 is the BX referred to from the early 60s, but more details will come in time. It takes the twin engine bomber role, whilst the F-111 replaces the F-105 and various other planes as the strike fighter/strike bomber, even though the F-111A and RAAF/RIAF F-111C don’t have a lot of fighter in their roles. The F-111B? A USN heavy long range strike aircraft that will forge a bit of a role. There is a 4 engined BX floating around to maybe replace the B-47z - LAX will be a completely new plane with its own niche and export potential - Replacing the B-52 will end up creating its own aircraft, but not be necessarily replacing the BUFF.
2.) F-111D night fighters - Not just strike aircraft operating at night, but the all weather, long range fighter in the family. More will come on this.
3.) New RN corvettes - Foreshadowed a while back, but the large number of large corvettes grew a bit too tempting to politicians and the Admiralty and ended up being re-designated as frigates. These new corvettes are the ‘hi’ end of construction, in the form of 1250t missile ships, with the “lo” being filled by a 500t coastal type. There will be more on these in the RN update.

They will have similar names and general parameters, but there will be notable differences.

Quite right. It is intended to have that jarring effect, so that the difference becomes obvious.

June 28: Bilateral US-Soviet discussions on the potential limitation of strategic forces break down over the sticking issue of the vast American quantitative superiority over the USSR in long range ballistic missiles, with the balance currently standing at 2739 US missiles compared to 920 Soviet. No wonder the Soviet Union does not want to talk more with these kind of numbers.
