Lightning in the Night timeline
A timeline based on 12 episodes written by Fred Allhof between August 24th to 16th November 1940 in the Liberty magazine and later bundled into a book which was published in the 1970s, the introduction in the book begin as follows:
On June 10, 1939, Liberty publisher, Bernar Macfadded, stated in a editorial that there would be "no war for a year,maybe five years" with Germany, thus Allhof own World War II does not begin until 1945, based on three quite logical premises: first, that Hitler would never gamble on a two front war and thus would honor the nonaggression pact with Stalin, Second, that both Germany and Japan would settle down to assimilating their conquered territories, preferring to extend their power by diplomatic coups and international blackmail. And third, that with European war at a standstill, America would slow her own rearmament efforts and retreat to an isolation position.

The battle of Gibraltar is fought between the British defenders, hold up in the colony of Gibraltar versus a joint German-Spanish-Italian force, the battle began when the colony was bombarded by a lightly-armed and careful operating Royal Italian Navy operating out of the Strait of Gibraltar and bombarded from the air by the German Luftwaffe and the Spanish Air Force operating from airfields in Spain, sometime after this, Spanish troops belonging to Generalissimo Franco under the cover of the German Luftwaffe and artillery invaded the colony, thereby securing the Strait of Gibraltar. Later the captured colony of Gibraltar was used to drive a large part of the British Mediterranean Fleet towards the now German-Spanish occupied colony, and hammered by land based artillery; the majority of the British Mediterranean Fleet was sunk, with only a handful of Royal Navy ships managing to escape to safety of the British naval base of Alexandria.

The Third Reich in a strongly worded note handed over to the United States government claims that the Monroe Doctrine doesn't apply to transfer of possession between European powers as according to the Third Reich, the Monroe Doctrine is an instrument put in place to prevent European powers from gaining new territories in the Western Hemisphere, but doesn't apply in the transfer of colony’s between European powers. And therefore Third Reich request, that the United States of America must whiteout question, agree with the Third Reich occupation of all former British possessions in the New world, as well as insular and continental holdings of France, Netherlands and Denmark which have been provisionally held by the United States of America sins shortly after the capitulation of France.

Italian Foreign Minister Galeazzo Ciano is called to a conference by Adolf Hitler in Berlin. During the conference Adolf Hitler explained to Ciano that he had a plan. The stupid nonsense published by the Soviet Union about an impending break between the Third Reich and Italy had to be squelched. As according tho Hitler that now in this moment of history they have to put up a unified front against these filthy Soviet propaganda intended to drive a wedge into their relations The plan Hitler had was simple. In May 1938 when Adolf Hitler had visited Rome he with Mussolini, watched a mass demonstration by Italy’s fighting troops. On the following day they had gone to Naples to review a great naval display. Adolf Hitler suggestion to Italian Foreign Minister Galeazzo Ciano is for that show to be repeated. On May 1st 1941, Stalin would parade his great Army in Red Square. On May 2nd Adolf Hitler suggested the fighting forces of the Kingdom of Italy and the Third Reich could show their teeth. Italy would gather her officers, her finest troops, in the square outside the Palazzo Venezia, and would line the Centocelle military airport at Rome with here fighting planes, to be sent up in great formations as a welcome to the Third Reich air fighters. Simultaneously, the finest units of both the Royal Italian Navy and German Kriegsmarine would lay at anchor in the Bay of Naples. This idea of Adolf Hitler sounded great and Italian Foreign Minister Galeazzo Ciano discussed it with prime minster Benito Mussolini who would approve of the idea shortly after.

Italy would gather her officers, her finest troops, in the square outside the Palazzo Venezia, and would line the Centocelle military airport at Rome with here fighting planes, to be sent up in great formations as a welcome to the Third Reich air fighters. Simultaneously, the finest units of both the Royal Italian Navy and German Kriegsmarine would lay at anchor in the Bay of Naples. This idea of Adolf Hitler sounded great and Italian Foreign Minister Galeazzo Ciano discussed it with prime minster Benito Mussolini who would approve of the idea shortly after.
