Accurate for its time but as history showed free trade is a bad choice in a deeply protectionist world. However does show that manipulation of the economy for the benefit of the rich and privileged is nothing new. Although Ricado's real sin was blanket support of laissez faire economics, unlike Smith who recognised a balanced economy was necessary.
