Montreal WW II hero, largely unknown at home, honoured as Dutch town's saviour

  An amazing story.  Strange combination of rage at the death of his friend and very skilled handling of the situation to trick the German garrison into leaving.  By this time in the war they may have been demoralised anyway but a hell of an achievement by a single man.  Especially since with a population of about 50,000 its not a small village.

  I would have thought that being a sniper would have meant losing an eye would be crippling as it means reduced/no depth perception but obviously not?
