I knew he had been a valuable agent for us but didn't realise about the continued threats to his life. Similarly had heard before some details about his role in 1983 but not before that Michael Foot had been identified as a KGB agent!

Today, 38 years ago, the Soviet nuclear false alarm happened. Every September 26, I always revisit this video to thank the late Col. Petrov, the man who saved the world. Yes, we are here on the internet right now and reading about this all because he dismissed those five ICBMs as false alarms.
