Gerald Ford keeps his promise to not run in the 1976. Nelson Rockefeller seeks the nomination. Does he beat Ronald Reagan? And if he does, wold he have beaten Carter? What would have been the butterflies from a Rockefeller presidency?

What would have been the butterflies from a Rockefeller presidency? Who would be his vice president, he needs one if he will die in 1979.

Rockefeller would not be President in 1979. He would lose the nomination to Ronald Reagan. By 1976, conservative voters dominated Republican primaries. Reagan loses the general election. The economy is bad. Also Carter can use Reagan's unpopular views like his opposition to medicare. On January 26, 1979 ITTL, Rockefeller is still a former Vice President without Secret Service protection. After his heart attack, his 25 year old female assistant still calls a friend still calls a friend instead of an ambulance. Rockefeller still dies just as he did OTl. IF the Secret Service were there, they would have performed CPR and called an ambulance right away.
