‘Amá’ and the Legacy of Sterilization in Indian Country

  That is utterly disgusting.  Not to mention that while it was a disaster for the native women and communities abused it hints at much larger numbers affected who's crime was to be poor, disabled or colured.  It sounds like the people responsible had learnt nothing from the disasters the Nazis inflicted.

  I knew a little about the notorious syphilis experiments which I think occurred in parts of the south from the 30's into the 60's but something this widespread and this late.  Literally words fail me.   Not to mention that while a couple of eastern states have apologised they have refused to pay compensation and the falsely named IHS [Indian Health Service] are still refusing to apologise.

  Actually now I think about it the issue was raise to a degree in the cop drama in one episode, although it seemed to be one single rogue doctor/clinic IIRC rather than a widespread scandal.
