Max Brooks wrote a book called World War Z, it is an oral history of a decade long war against the undead zombies who take over most of the world before a fightback comes. This thread IS NOT ABOUT the mechanics of those zombies. Neither is it about that terrible film.
In the book, there are events done by the living mentioned. Some of the ones which intrigue me are below: 1) The Saudis setting fire to their oil wells. 2) Iranian-Pakistani nuclear war. 3) The Americans holding the Rocky Mountains Line with infantry. 4) The Israelis building a wall around much of their country covering all sides including the sea.
How could these have played out? The mechanics and the why interest me. Anyone else? In addition, if there is any interest, I will track down some short pieces I wrote on British military reactions to the Zombie threat as it approaches the UK I have written before and post them here. They are somewhere, I just have to remember where.

Have read the book once, but regarding the Israelis building a wall around much of their country covering all sides including the sea. i can see happening, but dame those are really big walls they build.

If I recall correctly, there was mention of the entire population of North Korea going underground into a system of tunnels. There was a ROK/US military team inspecting one of the entrances and debating not opening them because "what if the entire population were now zombies"? or something like that.
Good book.

Also remember that, the UN feared that one day those zombies might come out.

They mentioned North Koreans disappearing in the book. Someone on ah.com wrote an excellent piece on a joint US/ROK team inspecting the entrances to the tunnels but daring not open them.

Yes i remember that, they went to the entrances of the tunnels and wondered if anybody was still in there, but they dared not to open it for fear of the zombies coming out instead.

I'm not sure if i'm remembering this correctly but there was a side story about the crew of either Mir or ISS essentially being stuck in orbit because they couldn't return because of the war. They stayed so long that their muscles atrophied because of their extended orbital stay and they died in hospital soon after returning to Earth.

It was the ISS and in addition to the muscle wasting there was the space radiation too which killed them.

Did they also not visit the Chinese space station who suffers some kind of mishap and where they not saved by a private spacecraft.

I don't recall that.

A rescue mission by a private company from the United States was able to reach them.
