If Hungary manages to stay out of WWII, How long does it remain a nominal monarchy/personal dictatorship under "the Admiral without a fleet in a country without a coastline"?
What happens when Horthy dies?

What happens when Horthy dies? I think it would depend on how Hungary avoided occupation by either Nazi Germany and/or the Soviets and what the post-war world looks like. I find it difficult to see how it would avoid either siding with Hitler, given the land he offered in return or being occupied if they didn't. If they avoided this and we get anything like the OTL occupation of eastern Europe I can see it either being occupied then or going the way of Czechoslovakia.

If Hungary can avoid WW2 - a big ask as their economy was tied to Germany before the war and then they were geographically in the middle during it - then Horthy will face communists subversion post-war. Maybe the West props him up but it would be difficult.
