Since its pretty obvious that no such visits actually occurred. However they seem to have become part of the mythology and towards the end of the article there is a suggestion as to why. As a way of preventing/hindering the white move to present Lincoln as a supporter of white supremacy. Also possibly as stories generated to make their existence in a still deeply racist America more bearable. |

Well if those stories where true it meant that not only Lincoln was traveler but also a good actor to pull those things of. |
