I must admit I never realised that Canada had prohibition at all! Heard about the smuggling over the border to the US butthought that was always legal in Canada.

Fortunately [for Canada anyway] it seems to have been a lot more limited, both in the level of violence and the longer-lasting effects, than in the US.
