Today's Morning Edition talked about how Mike Pence was so shocked by the Access Hollywood tape that he suggested to the RNC that he replace Trump as Republican Presidential nominee and Condoleezza Rice be his running mate. What if Pence did replace Trump The POD is that Trump is filmed actually committing sexual assault instead of bragging about doing it. I don't think Condoleezza Rice would accept the nomination. IF she wanted to go into politics she would have run for President in 2008. So I assume Pence would have had a White male running mate. The Trump Whoever ticket is hurt by the Trump scandal so Hillary wins 49% of the popular vote to Pence 44% and Johnson 4%. Hillary carries her OTL states plus Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and Arizona. So the Electoral College is 333 Hillary and 205 Pence. The House is still Republican by narrower margin. There are more House investigations into Hillary. The House passes straight up repeals of the Affordable Care Act but they die in the Senate which is 51 to 49 Democrat because Democrats won in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Missouri.

I forgot about the 2nd district of Nebraska. The Electoral College score would be Hillary 334 Pence 204.

That would be interesting. You would likely see Congress still fairly deadlocked, less because of the poor quality of the Presidents ideas than a very bitter relationship between the parties. The Trump loyalists and right wing would be even more embittered and hostile towards the Democrats and Hilary especially . Alhough there might be a degree of civil war within the Republicans after the dropping of Trump which might weaken them enough that some legistation could get through. As such while internationally the US would be held in higher estime and have less clashes and conflict it could get very nasty internally.

Trump would not concede defeat. He would, as he did OTL, would lie about illegal aliens voting.

Trump would not concede defeat. He would, as he did OTL, would lie about illegal aliens voting. I think that is likely but assuming you meant that Pence presuades the Republicans to accept him as their candicate. As such Trump might well run as a 3rd party candicate, which is likely to sink both him and Pence.

Being able to forge or get the documents to vote is not that difficult. Its actually a relatively simple process (I am a retired Fed, and have some familiarity with such things) which, together with seeing enough of such things, leads me to believe there is more of this crime than is thought. The fact it isn't prosecuted very often is due more to a desire to go after violent crime or crimes with a higher profile, not due to there being none of it.

Informative but fairly depressing through.
