The Japanese would get the Southern Half of Luzon not the Northern Half which would be a wasteland for them..the nobles from the north want the south being conquered by the chinese or any other foreigners so that they can get vengeance from being attacked by Bolkiah..

Well, I can certainly see the Japoreans doing that in the initial phase of their colonization. That manipulation of the local elite's feuds would be classical 'divide and impera' strategy. |

Well, I can certainly see the Japoreans doing that in the initial phase of their colonization. That manipulation of the local elite's feuds would be classical 'divide and impera' strategy. The Japanese would make the northerners their clients/allies and intermediaries with Java/Malaya...I really see the Japanese betraying those that rebelled in the Tondo conspiracy that asked for their help and annexing most of their lands. |

I think a POD that could stop the Sakoku or help the Japanese is making lowland Northern Luzon remain Muslim i.e. Lower Cagayan and Pampanga by ruining the relations between the Lowland nobles of Northern Luzon and the Lucoes or the nobles of Greater Manila area, a betrothal ending before Bangkusay could be a POD.
